What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a form of complementary medicine that uses preventative health strategies to support the overall health and wellbeing of the entire body system. It is a system or method of treating illness and disease that employs no surgery or synthetic drugs but uses functional medicine testing, food as medicine, specialised diets, herbal medicine, nutrient therapy, and counselling, where appropriate, to assist the natural healing processes of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. Accredited naturopaths have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and undertake extensive training in evidence-based practice.
What is Nutrition?
Nutrition is the science that interprets the nutrients and other substances in food in relation to maintenance, growth, reproduction, health, and disease of the body. It includes food intake, absorption, assimilation, biosynthesis, catabolism (breakdown) of molecules, and the excretion of waste from the body.

What happens in a consultation?
In a consultation I work with you to identify underlying cause/s of your health concerns by investigating your signs and symptoms, your health/lifestyle goals, past medical history, family history, and body system function including; energy levels, stress levels, sleep quality, immune function, reproductive health, lifestyle habits, digestion, and diet. The information gained is compiled together like a jigsaw puzzle to help make sense of why the existing concern/s have occurred and to make a plan on how to restore your body back to its optimal function.
I then create a report for you with the recommendations I’ve made based on your individual needs and this may include any of the following; dietary support, supplements, lifestyle, resources, further investigations, and a follow-up review time.
Your one-on-one consultation will often include a combination of:
- Detailed medical case history, health time-line and ‘matrix’ look at your health history
- Diet Analysis
- Blood pathology review – or Non-medicare pathology request form for further investigations into your health.
- Strategies and preventative health solutions to help you achieve your health goals and maintain optimal well-being.
How many consultations will I need?
Most Naturopath’s work with the natural cycles of your body and base your healing around the length of blood cycles, which on average is about 120 days as this is how long it takes for every red blood cell in your body to renew itself (roughly 4 months). For this reason, it will be likely that you will need to revisit your naturopath for follow-up consultations at certain intervals throughout the 4 month period to make sure you are on track to reach your health goals.
As each person is completely individual there are no set timelines for healing. Some body systems will need longer than others to reach their optimal health and this will be dependant on many factors that your naturopath will discuss with you in your consultation.
Grace has a Bachelor of Health Science and Complementary medicine, an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy, and is certified in Western Herbal Medicine and Nutrition. She has over 15 years’ experience practicing as an integrative Naturopath and has developed a strong philosophy and understanding around each person being completely individual, with unique biochemical needs that require to be assessed and treated as such. The integration of medical science and naturopathic science is the ultimate health care available in the quest for the prevention of illness & disease and is a pathway to health that is much easier to apply than waiting until you need a cure.
Using food as medicine is an essential quality that Grace brings to her consultation, recognising that the body needs whole foods and a wide variety of good nutrition packed full of micro and macronutrients so that it can heal from the inside out.
She understands how our mental, emotional and spiritual spheres influence our physical body and can have a large impact on our everyday functioning, for example, everyday stress can create blockages on our path towards health, healing, longevity, vitality, and well-being. She believes that a holistic approach that addresses these areas is essential in preventative health treatment strategies.
Grace is also involved in Naturopathic consultations and Preventative Health Education at Mullumbimby Comprehensive Medical Centre and has practiced consulting at several leading health retreats and integrative medical centre’s within Australia. Learn more here.
I look forward to helping you create a joyful path towards your Optimal Health and Well-being.
